The BRSO invites you into the concert hall for the creative genius of Claude Debussy, Manuel de Falla, Jennifer Higdon and Maurice Ravel. The concert begins with the quintessential work of Musical Impressionism - Debussy’s dream-like L'après-midi d'un faune, inspired by the work of symbolist poet Stéphane Mallarmé. This work is followed by Spanish Impressionist Manuel de Falla’s charmed nocturne for piano and orchestra Nights in the Gardens of Spain, performed by pianist Anton Nel. Blue Cathedral, composed by Jennifer Higdon, carries the tradition of the musical impressionists into the 21st Century, incorporating novel instrumentation, including the glass harmonica and Chinese bells. The evening finishes with Anton Nel's performance of Ravel’s jazz inspired Piano Concerto in G, a product of inspirations from Ravel’s U.S. travels.

How long are the Chamber series events? I am thinking of planning a wonderful evening out. |

Hi Sara,
Each event varies a bit in length, but our average is between an hour and a half and two hours.
The holiday chamber concerts are great! If you aren't in the holiday spirit yet, you soon will be! Hope to see you there.
